What’s Your Desk Situation?

For those of you who are developers like me and work at a computer for hours upon hours every day, what’s your desk setup? Are you standing? Sitting in a badass chair? Using an exercise ball? Walking around the room vocalizing code while your assistant types it?

Sitting is killing my back and standing was killing my knees (and workflow). Let me know below what you’re into.

  1. Hey Sean, I tried the standing desk thing once and my feet just couldn’t deal with it. I guess I don’t have good blood circulation or I don’t know but I just can’t do it.

    What I do is I have a comfortable chair (nothing fancy, just a regular office chair) and I try to get up as much as possible even if that means standing up right in the middle of something.

    For instance I drink a lot of water so instead of having a huge ass thermo filled with water in my office, I’ll just use a small glass instead; that way I run out of water a LOT of times through the day, which means I have to literally get up and go to the kitchen every single time I need to pour more water.

    Also, since I live on a second floor and I have a drugstore at about two blocks from here and a mini market at about four blocks, I normally always walk to these places and these small breaks are golden to me as well.

    I do spend almost the entire day sitting but as you can see, I get up a LOT as well and that’s what worked the best for me so far, hope that helps!
